Resumo
Este livro reúne reflexões sobre o Serviço Social a partir do princípio do pluralismo teórico, entendido não como dispersão ou relativismo, mas como disposição ética e intelectual que inibe pretensões de dogmatismo no campo acadêmico-profissional. Originada na trajetória da comunidade Serviço Social e Pluralismo, a obra percorre a história, a identidade, os valores, as teorias, os modelos de intervenção e os dilemas contemporâneos do Serviço Social, dialogando com produções e referências bibliográficas de autores de diversos países. Sem pretender esgotar os temas nem prescrever referenciais, examina desde as precursoras e pioneiras do Serviço Social até debates contemporâneos sobre subjetividade, interdisciplinaridade e exercício profissional. Sustenta, como argumento central, que o Serviço Social é uma profissão plural e que o reconhecimento da pluralidade de saberes fortalece a profissão, em vez de fragilizá-la.

ABSTRACT
This book brings together reflections on Social Work based on the principle of theoretical pluralism, understood not as dispersion or relativism, but as an ethical and intellectual disposition that inhibits claims to dogmatism within the academic and professional field. Originating from the trajectory of the Serviço Social e Pluralismo (Social Work and Pluralism) community, the work addresses the history, identity, values, theories, intervention models, and contemporary dilemmas of Social Work, drawing on scholarly works and literature by authors from various countries. Without intending to exhaust the topics or prescribe specific frameworks, it examines subjects ranging from the precursors and pioneers of Social Work to contemporary debates on subjectivity, interdisciplinarity, and professional practice. Its central argument is that Social Work is a plural profession and that recognizing the plurality of knowledge strengthens, rather than weakens, the profession.
